Despite efforts to prevent the spread of such infections many people simply live silently with their condition due to the stigma associated with STIs. One STI in particular has been given the backseat by the government, who has been focusing only on Chlamydia and HIV over the past few years, this STI is herpes.

A clinical guideline released as part of the new herpes Medical Resource Kit for doctors, created and distributed by the Australian Herpes Management Forum (AHMF), indicates that 70% of people infected with genital herpes – HSV-2 – acquire it from a partner who has no apparent symptoms and is even unaware he or she has it.
